The Once Deserted Playground

I stand outside glaring at the evacuated playground. The rain striking down hard on the window and the wind shrieks around. I roll my eyes around and the carpeted floors are covered with rainy grimy footprints trampled upon them. The individual crispy swirled autumn leaves are moving through the doors as the children are rushing inside from the wretched weather. Their cheeks are rose-coloured and the frosty morning has left their hands like hard ice blocks. As I enter the cafeteria, I am charged with a warm welcoming comfort of the heat waves blowing from the kitchens. Although, the facial expressions of my friends do not fill me up with the same joy and comfort. They appear to be windblown and sluggish. Then I notice a diminutive first year. Her face is covered in tears and her skirt is soaked up in the wet mud. She seems to be lost and shedding tears is the most pronounced thing for this puny first year.
In a few weeks time as I look around, the skies are beginning to clear up and a rainbow emerges sparkling with dazzling shine across the sky. I turned around as I heard a chuckle from behind, only to come across the little first year again however this time with a radiant smile on her face. As I wander around I am cherished with welcoming smiling faces all around me. I realise that summer is actually just around the corner. The playground is now brimming with people. All the benches are covered with blazers on which people are lying catching the warmth of shining sun. People are scattered around the place. Morning sun is already showering heat on us. The once deserted playing area is blooming with laughter and joy. The rubber playground tiles that were once covered up with frosty mud are now shining brightly under the sun. Since the school has installed these new tiles, the environment is actually much safer to play as the screams due to falling have been reduced greatly. The playground safety tiles reduce the physical pressure and stress among the children so that they can play with absolute comfort.

The fragrance of the freshly cut grass mats surrounds the air around us. Everyone is rushing to buy drinks to cool themselves down. I can already taste my freezing tropical flavoured can. As I approach the front of the queue I realise that all the cans are sold out. Nevertheless, my chilled water bottle did almost the same job. The sun is still shining through the glass roof. The sun makes the atmosphere much more friendly and vibrant. As I look around I realise how much I am actually fond of summer.
